Today, getting your smog check is simply completed by plugging in the State of California Smog Equipment directly into your car’s ODB (On-Board Diagnostic) connector that is standard on all cars since 2000. Previously smog checks required that your car was placed on a dynamometer that spins your tires and add a sensor into your tailpipe. This new method makes things easier and faster.
