It is important to be able and differentiate which lights are warning lights and which offer information based on your car's features. If you'd like to learn more about the meaning behind the lights, then continue reading!

Oil Pressure Warning Light

When you see this light turn on, you may be running out of oil. If your oil levels are good, then the oil may not be circulating through your engine correctly.

Tire Pressure Warning Light

This light signifies low tire pressure or high tire pressure. There is usually an easy and quick fix, but avoiding the issue can lead to uneven wear of your tires.

Engine Temperature Warning Light

This symbol indicates your engine is overheating. The issue can stem from your coolant and needs to be addressed immediately.

Traction Control Alert Light

If you see this light is activated, one of your tires may be spinning faster than the others. Your car usually deals with this issue by starting the ABS or anti-lock brake system to brake the specific tire.

Anti-lock Brake System Warning Light

Your ABS helps your brakes from locking. If the ABS light is on, there is an issue with the system that needs to be addressed.

Engine Warning Light / Check Engine Light

Your engine warning light, also known as the check engine light, is usually activated when there is an issue within your engine. Professional shops typically have the tools necessary to read the engine to identify the specific problem. The check engine light should not go ignored.

Battery Alert Light

This light is shaped like a small battery, meaning your battery and electrical system may be damaged or in need of repair.

Low Fuel Indicator Light

You may have seen this light more than once, and it simply states that your car's fuel levels are low! Don't forget to fuel up!

Seat Belt reminder Light

The seat belt reminder light is one of the hardest lights to miss, as there is usually a beeping noise with it. Put on your seat belt to remove the glare and solve the problem.

Airbag Warning Light

One of the most important safety features in your car is the airbags. If you see the airbag warning light turn on, this means there is an issue with a single airbag or your entire airbag system. Have your airbags inspected so you can depend on them when most needed.

Fog Lamp Indicator Light

This symbol indicates that your fog lights are on. Usually needed during heavy fog when your visibility is less than 100 yards.

Washer Fluid Indicator Light

Your washer fluid indicator light indicates that you are low on washer fluid. Filling up your washer fluid should solve this problem.

Brake Warning Light

If you see this light is active, your emergency brake may be engaged. Double-check your emergency brake before you start driving.

Lane Departure Warning Light

A feature on most new cars is the lane departure warning light. This indicates that you accidentally invade the neighboring lane and need to get back in your route. It is important to listen to prevent accidents on the road.

When you notice a light turn on, the first thing to do is identify the light's color. The color of the light is very important when diagnosing the meaning of the light. Green and blue lights are indications that your operating system is working. The following colors are orange and yellow lights which signify a service or repair needed. These services and repairs are usually not an emergency but need to be addressed soon. The most important lights are usually red or flashing lights. These need to be addressed immediately as they can lead to damage to your engine or vehicle. We recommend you pull over and contact a local shop for more information on what to do at the moment.
